A private day on Lake Maggiore. Your chauffeur drives you to Stresa, where a boat takes you to Isola Bella with the Borromeo Palace, then to Isola dei Pescatori. In the afternoon the boat continues to the hermitage of Santa Caterina del Sasso.

The tour
In Stresa you board either the public ferry or a private boat, as you prefer. The first island is Isola Bella: the Borromeo Palace with its baroque rooms, and the terraced Italian gardens above the lake. Then Isola dei Pescatori, a village of narrow lanes and waterfront restaurants, where you stop for lunch.
In the afternoon you cross to the Lombard shore to Santa Caterina del Sasso, a 13th-century hermitage built on the edge of the cliff. You return to Stresa, where your chauffeur is waiting.
