The tour
The day begins in Chiuro, at a historic Valtellina winery: a tour of the cellars and a tasting of three local wines. Lunch is at a traditional restaurant, with pizzoccheri, the buckwheat pasta of the valley, and other local dishes.
Your chauffeur takes you to Tirano station, where you board the Bernina Express. The train crosses the Alps over viaducts and past glaciers to the Bernina Pass, in about two and a half hours. In St. Moritz you have about an hour in the centre. Your chauffeur meets you there for the drive back.

- You cross the Swiss border: every passenger needs a valid travel document.
- Panoramic seats on the Bernina Express sell out early, especially in summer and December: please book at least two weeks ahead.
- The tour runs all year; in winter the view from the train is covered in snow.
